Some of you may be wondering why we've used figureheads on banknotes. Simple really! They're both symbols of change in Australia history. Few of us today were born before the Australian Dollar came into being. How many of you could actually pin a name to each figurehead? In fact, we believe that the combination of these two aspects is largely responsible in shaping up contemporary Australia.

When we choose a role model it's not just by choice. It is rather a question of the way we see how we fit in today's society and how we can contribute to it. It's about admitting that much has been done but that more is possible. It's about admitting that identity is not fixed once and for all. The road to who we are still lies ahead. It's about admitting that no-one can walk down that road alone but that we need each other. The Arts, Science, Education and International Cooperation are the 4 pillars of a land in the making not just a land of plenty.

We've therefore chosen these role models as an invitation to get to know each other better. We've given you hints to follow rather than hashing it all up for you. Actually Google will do the trick. And for those who really care and share our values, they'll come and meet us in person.
